The word ‘ISTIKAN’ refers to a small cup for drinking tea.
A cup embedded in Arabic culture known for its unique and simple handle-less shape.
The word ‘ISTIKAN’ is originally brought by the British during the occupation of Iraq in 1914.
The British used to bring those cups to England as souvenirs.
To distinguish them from larger tea cups, The British used to refer to those cups as (East-Tea-Can) what came to be common now as ISTIKAN.
Hence the common word for a glass of tea came to be known as ISTIKAN Chai in Iraq.
